I AM FEARLES – Bishop Wale Ajayi

Christ is my life. Listen, Christianity is not “do enough so you can be like Christ”. It is Christ living His Life through you. Scripture says you are dead and Christ is your life and when Christ who is our life shall appear, we shall appear with Him in glory.

Christ is living His Life through my body. So, when I am benevolent and kind, it is Christ manifesting His kindness through me. When I am merciful, I am not trying to be. It is Christ manifesting His mercy through me. That is why all glory goes to Him. That is why Scripture says we have this treasure in earthen vessel that the excellency of the power might be of Him and not of us.

This is the secret of a successful Christian life and the secret of miracle power.

A lot of people these days talk of pastors who have lived like Archbishop Benson Idahosa and they try to tie their success to their prayer life or how they prayed for twenty four hours. They give different reasons why they think they were anointed people. That is not correct. The secret of Benson Idahosa’s miracle power is the revelation of Christ in him. Finish! Same thing with T.L. Osborn.

T.L. Osborn said he has never felt the anointing. He said what you see, is Christ manifesting. The less of you that you put in the picture, the more of Christ you will see.

How do you receive healing? He forgave all our sins and He has healed all our diseases. If all sins are forgiven, then all diseases are healed.

Fear is an illegal structure and right now I am like God’s taskforce to pull down every illegal structure of fear in your life.

Fear is not of God. He has never been a part of fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear (2Tim. 1:7). Fear is a weapon and a tool in the hand of the devil. He uses it to incapacitate and demoralize us from doing what God has called us to do.

Remember God called Gideon and Gideon was even in a place of fear when God called him. He was hiding from the Midianites and God told him “I have sent you as one man to deliver Israel,” but Gideon was afraid. So, God told him to go and hear what the Midianites were saying about him. He went, listened and found out that the Midianites he was afraid of were afraid of him.

What he was afraid of that kept him back from entering into God’s purpose was actually afraid of him.

Fear will stop you from fulfilling God’s purpose.

We have to eradicate fear from our lives because fear is not the will of God. This fear is expressed at different levels.

In 1996, while in University of Lagos, the Lord had asked me to pioneer the Christian Fellowship International (CFi). I was afraid. Fear almost stopped me from doing the will of God. What was I afraid of? I was not afraid that the fellowship will not work or that something bad will happen. What I was afraid of was the will of God. I was afraid that I will not be walking in the will of God, that I will miss God’s will, that I was presumptuous or that I was not in God’s perfect will and that troubled me.

What brought me to that place? Religion. We were taught to dread God. We were taught so much religion like the Jews in the Old Testament. Like the priests who had a rope tied around their waist so that if any of them puts a spoon where they were supposed to put a cup and they die in God’s presence, they will use the rope to drag him out.

That was the Christianity some of us grew up in. As such, we dreaded God because we didn’t know the Fatherhood of God. We didn’t know God as Father. We knew Him as deity. We didn’t know the true character of God. Some people take the scripture that says “be sober and vigilant” and tell you that if you are a happy Christian, you are not a serious one.

With all the experience of fear I was having because of religion, I was preparing to start a fellowship and the Lord asked me a question. He said “what do you think was the problem of the unprofitable servant?” and I said “I don’t know,” so He said “you go and check in Matthew 25 and I went and studied it from verse 14-24.

You will see in that passage that the servant the master gave one talent never knew the master. His knowledge of the master was not accurate. When you don’t have accurate knowledge of someone, you misrepresent the person. The last servant’s knowledge was not accurate because instead of taking from them the master gave them back everything they brought. This means the master would have given back his one talent so he would have two. The servant thought that the master gave him one to make profit with and collect everything from him not knowing that what he was working for was for himself.

Many times, because we don’t have an accurate knowledge of God, we cannot truly serve Him as we should. We only know the true God in the face of Jesus, (2Cor. 4:6). I only know the true God by looking at the face of Jesus. Jesus is the true character of God. Any god preached about, given to, danced to and prayed to whose character is not consistent with the character of Jesus is an idol.

God does not take from people; He gives to them. Stop telling people God takes from them to do for them. He gives and gives and keep giving, (1 Cor. 13). True love always gives.

In Matthew 25, inaccurate knowledge of the master put fear in the servant’s heart and that fear made him keep the talent and because of fear, when the master came he gave him back what belonged to him.

Fear will stop you. Fear which comes from an inaccurate knowledge of the Father will limit you from fulfilling purpose.

The first illegal structure of fear we are bringing down is the fear of inaccurate knowledge of God. That fear will limit you. Fear is confidence in Satan’s ability and lack of confidence in the Father’s love. So, when a believer is living in fear, such a believer is expressing confidence in Satan’s ability and wickedness.

2Timothy 1:7 says “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

So, whenever there is fear in your life God is not involved. God cannot use His resources to empower Satan.

The three conditions that satisfy for personal prophecy are that prophecy from God must encourage, it must strengthen and it must comfort (1Cor.14:3). Any ‘prophecy from God’ that puts fear of the devil in your heart is from the devil. God cannot speak to you and what He tells you empowers Satan. Scriptures already tells us that by the Cross Satan has already been defeated (Heb.2:14). Satan is a liar. When you have thoughts of failure that is the devil. Thoughts of death that is the devil. If God were to even tell you that you will die, you will have peace about it.

Romans 8:14 says “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

This scripture does not mean that until you are led you are not a son. That is how we were taught in religion. It means because I am a son, I am led.

The only condition to be a son is to put faith in Jesus (John 1:12). Now, because I am a son, I have the privilege and right of being guided by the Lord.

I want to show you three scenarios. First, if for example, I say “go to Faith Mediplex.” I mean figure out where Faith Mediplex is and go there by yourself.

Second, if I say “that is Faith Mediplex, go.” I have improved. I have shown you where Faith Mediplex is. You then have to figure out how to get there.

Third, I can say “go to Faith Mediplex”, but I hold your hand and take you by myself to Faith Mediplex.

This third way is how God guides us. This is the leading of the Spirit. He doesn’t just say figure it out yourself or show you where it is. He takes you by the hand and leads you right there so that the believer only misses the will of God not by ignorance but by rebellion.

But some people will quote Hosea 4:6 “my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Listen ‘my people’ does not refer to you. It is Israel. For the believer in Christ, God works in me both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Phil. 2:13). Read the Bible as a man in Christ and not as a Jew. The man in Christ does not think as a Jew.

Romans 8:15 says “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

You are not a slave or a servant. Servants try to impress. We are not slaves. We have not received the spirit of bondage to dread Him but the Spirit of adoption where we can call Him “Daddy! “Daddy!

This Spirit does not make you run away from Him. He makes us run to Him. Religion tells you we have to qualify or do enough. That we have to do enough so that God can accept us but that is bondage.

In Christianity, we don’t have to do for He has done and we receive what He has done and we walk into what He has done. He even told us if we fall, we should come to Him with boldness to the throne of Grace to find help in our time of need (Heb. 4:16). Never run away for any reason.

The Law keeps us in bondage and in fear. Not good fear, but the dread of God – so we are terrified by God.

In Galatians 4, Paul explains it further in verses 4 to 6. He shows that because I am a son of God, first the Spirit comes to guide and lead me.

There is a difference between ‘papa’ and ‘daddy.’ When we hear the car horn of papa, we run inside, but when daddy comes we run to him. Jesus came to show us that God is our Father. Religion gave us a picture of a God we can’t come near.

When the Law was given, 3,000 people died at the foot of the mountain. There was this terror, being afraid of God, fear of judgment and fear of being destroyed. We grew up in religion with the fear of a God that can never be pleased. No matter how you try, you can never please him. If you brush your teeth before talking to Him in the morning, you have disobeyed Him. As you wake up in the morning, the first thing must be to talk to Him. A God you must keep appeasing with offering, fasting, prayers and with tithes.

People still present that God today – always collecting and never satisfied. If that is the God you have in mind, it will limit your expression of the divine life. You will not have the boldness to fulfill His purpose.

It is funny how people think God will send you on an errand to go and look for the materials to do His work. When God sends you, He empowers you for His own work.

What we have come to is something wonderful. What the Israelites came to was something fearful, (Heb.12:18-24). The blood of Jesus speaks of forgiveness because all sin has been put out of God’s sight. We have come to the God who has been satisfied by the sacrifice of Jesus. The God who is pleased with us, who has forgiven our sins once and for all, putting it out of His sight.

If you have an accurate knowledge of God, you don’t fall away rather you fall to Him. On no account will He ever charge sin to your account. If you fall, He will raise you up.

Satan uses your inaccurate knowledge of God as a weapon against you. He starts by putting an incorrect picture of your Father in your mind so that you will not know that the Father is always on your side. And if he can get you to have a wrong notion of your Father, he can handle you.

What did Sennacherib tell Israelites? He said “don’t put trust in your God. Your God sent us to destroy you.” Imagine the enemy telling you that you should not think that your God will save you and that it was your God that sent them to kill you. Israel has always trusted God. Now the enemy says it is your God that sent us, (2Kings 18). How many times has Satan told you that God is punishing you for your sins? Who is he that can lay a charge against you? (Rom. 8:33).

Satan starts by telling you how you are not qualified enough. He starts by making you think wrongly of your Father and when he can get you to think that way, he comes in with other things: fear of death, fear of failure and fear of doubt, and you don’t have enough strength to remember because he has already told you God is not on your side.

The Bible speaks of a warfare that Israel had where only King Saul and Jonathan had weapons to fight. The other soldiers had nothing to fight with. The enemy ensured that Israel had no weapons to fight. All the blacksmiths where taken out. How can you fight a war with no weapons? (1Sam.13&14).

The enemy still does that today. He robs you of weapons and then he attacks you. He first makes you think wrongly about your Father.

We were told that to carry God, you have to do 40 days fasting so you can be a carrier of God’s presence. No Sir!

You only carry God’s presence when you have confessed Jesus as the Son of God, (1John 4:15). Don’t even think the Pastor carries God more than you. God is in you as much as He is in me. He is in the one who prays 10 hours and the one who didn’t pray 10 hours. As long as you have both confessed Jesus as the Son of God.

Am I against praying 10 hours? No. I am saying all these religious idols should be broken down.

Correct and true preaching should not put fear in your heart about judgment day. Correct preaching should give you boldness in the day of judgment, (1John 4:17).

Why? It is because as He is, so are we in this world. When we stand before Him, it is not for judgment. It is for reward.

John 5:24 says “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

When I stand before Him, it is not for judgment. It is for reward because my judgment has been put upon Him. It is not about how you feel for Him. It is what Jesus did for you. There is no fear in love. I am not afraid of God. I reverence Him.
